Prosecutor requests preventive detention in the case of murdered kiosk owner

Prosecutor Alejandro Pelegrinelli, in charge of the investigation into the murder of kiosk owner Cristian Velázquez in Mar del Plata, requested preventive detention for the two accused from the judiciary. Pelegrinelli asked the Second Guarantees Court, led by Judge Juan Tapia, that Ignacio Bustos Nieto and Cristian "El Guachín" Monje remain in custody until the trial begins.

The two criminals are accused of being co-authors of the crime of "aggravated homicide by the use of a firearm," after shooting and killing the kiosk owner in his store in the Peralta Ramos Oeste neighborhood. A security camera captured the moment when the 50-year-old victim attempted to defend himself with a pepper spray, but was hit by a gunshot to the head by one of the attackers.

After the crime, Monje and Bustos Nieto escaped on a 110cc motorcycle. It was revealed that "El Guachín" had a criminal record and an arrest warrant, as he was sentenced to six years in prison in 2020 for other robberies. Meanwhile, Velázquez had been the victim of several previous robberies, and on one occasion, in April 2024, bullets struck packs of gum, saving his life.
